22 design studio‘s portfolio of products is largely defined by the use of concrete and steel, as evidenced in their 4th dimension table clock, contour sketch pencil, contour mechanical pencil and contour concrete rollerball pen. the taipei-based studio now expands their homeware collection with the ‘merge desktop stationery set’ – a family of workspace objects comprised of a pen holder, card holder and tape dispenser, all made from concrete.
the ‘merge tape dispenser’ employs three basic geometric shapes which give it a monolithic look. a large hexahedron serves as the weighted base, while a slender rectangular prism contains the cutting bland, and a cylinder acts as the tape holder itself.
the ‘merge pen holder’ encourages its user to carefully select the contents it contains as a result of its size, and is accompanied by a clip tray and a platform to display small objects.
the ‘merge cardholder’ can be used to display business cards, writing tools or other workspace items. it is composed of a solid cross-section of a cylinder giving it weight, while a semi-hollowed cross-section at its front creates a space for your most precious items.
in its entirety, the ‘merge desktop stationery set’ is a collection of office accessories that expresses distinctive sculptural qualities, and makes for a valuable addition to any workspace environment.
