The Messner Mountain Museum Corones is located 2,275 m above sea level on the summit plateau of the Kronplatz mountain in South Tyrol, Italy. This modern concrete structure was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and it is devoted to the discipline of mountaineering. It has a mesmerizing view of the Alps and houses multiple exhibits featuring alpine history. The word Corones comes from the Latin word for “the crown”. It symbolizes how the building is figuratively and literally the crowning glory of traditional alpinism.
