The Factory is an interactive rolling ball sculpture inspired by the Brutalist architecture of the last century, particularly the Industrial era and the functional architectural elements used in Cement and Steel factories. The steel balls start rolling from their starting point on top of the building towards their final destination, taking a whimsical journey through the various intricate spaces.

This piece took the designers at Material Immaterial Studio years to develop. It is an incredible display of their mastery over concrete and truly is a beautiful work of art.

Each concrete piece is unique; bubbles, small imperfections, and slight variations in color are part of the piece’s singularity and character. Concrete is a live material. Your piece will age and change over time with exposure to air and with wear, just as concrete does in monuments and buildings. Learn more.

Visual Fantastic, but not without issues.

Received this item as a Christmas gift. The detail is that much visually stunning in person. The only issue I’ve had thus far, the steel balls keep getting hung up in a few areas. I’d say the ball(s) make it start to finish 4 out of 10 times. Not sure what’s hanging them up.

Hi Noah, Thank you for your kind words and feedback. We first recommend making sure that The Factory is on a completely level surface to fix the issue. Otherwise, this seems to happen on a few pieces when they are new from our testing. Keep running the balls through, and from our experience, any hiccups should go away. Best, Roberto
