“I don’t grow up. In me is the small child of my early days” - MC Escher

Play is an integral part of our everyday life. It allows one to break free from the mundane, creating cheerful moments and happy memories that can last a lifetime.

The rolling steel balls hop and glide through concrete paths carved alongside detailed arcades and stairways, converging into a large bowl.

Material Immaterial Studio presents this creation, Gambol, to help you remember some of your childhood moments.

This one is a gift for the child in you.
Each concrete piece is unique; bubbles, small imperfections, and slight variations in color are part of the piece’s singularity and character. Concrete is a live material. Your piece will age and change over time with exposure to air and with wear, just as concrete does in monuments and buildings. Learn more.

The path less travelled...

It was a a long journey but my order arrived safely. All the way to New Zealand and not a scratch. Can I just say it’s a little wonder. A work of art that is sitting beside me here on my desk as I write this. Now and then I let a few ball-bearings take their thrill-laden trip from the top to the bottom. It fills me with delight and is even better than I thought it would be. A path to happiness. Every life can be made better simply by injecting a small sense of whimsy into it. Thank you to the team for bringing this piece of joy into my life.

Tasteful and fun

I love the attention to detail on components of the sculpture not related to the marble drop: It is pleasing and interesting to look at from all sides.
